A Sisyphusian effort
If you want to go through something frustrating, try changing your sheets when you own three cats. It goes something like this: shoo cats off bed, remove sheets. That's the easy part. Then the cats get up on the bare mattress. So you shoo cats off mattress and then turn to get clean sheets. Cats are back, set sheets on bed and remove cats, go to untangle sheets and cats are back, remove cats again...rinse repeat until sheets are on the bed. Blargh.
Wrath of cats
It's always pleasant when you get so busy during the holidays and the cats don't like it. When we leave the house to save our furniture the cats go out on our sun porch. It's a large room that is at the moment completely devoted to the kitties. They don't mind being cooped up at night too much but when we go somewhere during the day they don't appreciate it much.
When we leave during the day it also means that the sun porch is shut so I forget about the litter boxes and don't always keep up on my scooping. They make me pay for it. I'm not sure who but at least one of the three pees in the floor. There's plenty of boxes and at least one is never very dirty. They just prefer the others for some reason and when those two get full it's apparently pee in the floor time.
I know it's really my fault. I mean it's not like they can scoop their own boxes or anything. Still it is pretty annoying to have to clean up pee when there is a clean litter box nearby. Once work gets back in swing I'm going to go buy two more identical boxes, that way I have three that are just alike instead of three different ones. Maybe that will help, but you never know with cats.

Bath time
I'm not sure why but Cali has decided recently that I cannot take a bath alone. She sits up on the side of the tub and watches me. If I close the door she attacks the bottom of it trying to get it open until I get out and let her in. It's not that she likes the water, though she is the easiest one to bathe and doesn't seem to be afraid of it. I'm not sure if she's sitting there to makes sure I come out ok, or if she's hoping the hot water cooks me good for dinner lol.
We already call her guard cat because she has to investigate everyone who comes in. Also when we venture onto our sun porch she attempts to "guard" us from the dogs. when they come up to the window she does the "I'm big and bad" walk and sometimes will even smack the window a few times. The dogs are of course amused by this 8lb kitten standing up to their 50+ lb selves. Then cali purrs and winds hersef around our feet like she's saying "See what a good girl I am? I'm keeping those evil mutts away from you!"
Based on that I'd like to think that she's keeping watch instead of wanting to nom on me. If she gets out the seasonings though I suppose I'll have my answer ;)

Nice day....

It's nice today so I opened the windows for a bit to let some fresh air in. It helps my allergies since I'm allergic to my babies (and apparently EVERYTHING else in the world). It also lets them enjoy sitting in the windows and looking out. They already like looking out the living room picture window even though it's not open.
I'm really just glad the GA weather is back to cooperating and being what it's supposed to. Our snowman lost his head today though lol. He'll be gone completely soon enough.
Maybe soon now that the weather is mild, but before I go back to work on the 5th I can let the kitties out to enjoy the weather. They're normally inside kitties but I take them out on leashes. Cali seems to enjoy it until a car goes by. She's always been afraid of cars, which is not a bad thing but when I found her she was under a heating and air unit. You would think the noise would have made her not be scared but nope, my former feral is definitely terrified of cars, at least driving by. She loves to ride in them though, as you can see from her co-piloting for me in the picture here. :)

Cats
I've been amazed the last few days about how well all three of the cats are getting along. I'm not sure if it's because I've been home on break or what but in general all three have been well behaved. None of the usual spats. It's generally Cali that starts it, aggressive little smut that she is. That's ferals for you though. Suki can be bad too, for all she's domestic, there's a reason she's fat bitch to us a lot of times. She especially likes picking on Casper, poor thing. He's already out numbered, the last thing he needs is her attitude.
At the moment their all three doing what they've been doing the last three days, sleeping on my bed. Cali and Casper are even almost touching. Not sure what brought this about but I hope it lasts. We'll just have to see, I go back to work/class the 5th though I'm not sure my exact schedule yet. Hopefully they'll continue in this fashion even when they're spending more time on the sun porch.

Cold
Apparently I've caught the nasty cold that's been going around. Very unpleasant. At least I didn't have it on Christmas! So I've spent the day cuddled up in my warm bed with all three furry heaters cuddled up with me. They don't seem to mind each other being so close when they're on my bed, which is kind of odd because usually if Cali gets to close to Casper there's trouble. It's nice to see all my strange cats getting along :) Cali, who usually has a tendency to wrestle has even turned into a snuggle bug today! Yay for the feral.

Staying warm

`Due to the snow that arrived yesterday I stayed inside for most of the day. I enjoyed having a white Christmas for my first married Christmas, especially since it my first REAL white Christmas. One year when I was a kid we had a dusting but not enough to build a snowman like we did this time, or have a snowball fight, which we also did.
The cats of course want none of it. The temperatures and the fact that hubby worked today meant I was lazy and spent most of the day curled up in bed, which was fine with the cats, they love nothing more than curling up with me all day.
Casper did pretty well, he is my tom who is brain damaged. He does best when things have some semblance of "normalcy", which today was a little different. He's still really adjusting to being in the new house. Weird things set him off. For example today it was a hot tamales box from my Christmas candy I was snacking on. He decided it was terrifying. He would have darted off my bed had I not gotten rid of the box. Later when hubby came home he was cuddling him and he hissed at him. *sigh* oh well, it's better than the time he latched on to his face not long after the move. You have to just love him anyway though because despite his bad moments he is really just one big purry ball of love 90% of the time.

Pre-Christmas excitement
The cats are all excited. I'm having a bunch of friends from high school over. I've not seen some of them in like 8 years. The cats are all excited! I've been cooking all day so they've been under foot while I did that. Cleaning not so much, quickest way to clear a room is to turn on the vacuum! It's always good to see friends again! Merry Christmas!!

Letting things lapse
Well I let this lapse. My fault really but between grad school and planning a wedding in the last year plus a job AND buying a house I got really busy. Things have settled down now so I will try to update this more often.
Cali turned one August 3rd. She is a ginormous...8lbs! LOL! She's settled in along with my other two, Casper and Suki. They all like the new house and being totally inside kitties. They all like my Hubby, especially Cali who is turning into a daddy's girl!
Well more another time. :)
